eLiberare Association Launches Resource Pack to Combat Human Trafficking in Vulnerable Communities
Yesterday, the eLiberare Association celebrated the successful completion of the “DETECT – The Role of Non-Formal Actors in the Anti-Trafficking Fight” project by presenting an essential resource pack designed for vulnerable communities.
During the closing conference, a Local Engagement Guide and supporting materials were unveiled for key community members, including priests, police officers, doctors, social workers, and teachers, who work with individuals at risk of being trafficked. These resources are now available on a dedicated online platform, offering a local engagement model and guidance activities for citizens interested in contributing to the prevention of human trafficking. The guide and supporting materials are the result of the “DETECT” project, which was supported by the Active Citizens Fund Romania, a program funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021. Community interventions were conducted in Tinca (Bihor County) and Giarmata (Timiș County), with support from the People 2 People Foundation in Oradea and the LOGS – Group of Social Initiatives Association in Timișoara.
During the project, training sessions were organized on identifying and reporting suspected human trafficking for 127 theology students, 41 beauty industry professionals, 45 tourism industry workers, and 168 educational counselors. This was a pioneering initiative in training many of these professionals, who are often on the front lines in contact with potential victims, and are now equipped to recognize indicators and contribute to the identification and prevention of human trafficking.
At the project closing conference, the new online resource platform (eliberare.com/resurse-profesionisti/), was also introduced. This platform supports public institutions, NGOs, and key community professionals. It contains a range of materials to assist users in identifying potential trafficking victims and reporting cases.

The aim of the project is to increase citizen engagement in key areas where they can observe indicators of human trafficking and to facilitate early detection and reporting of potential trafficking cases.
