We like to implement campaigns and talk to people about human trafficking, but our team’s greatest satisfaction was around October 18 when we sent out resource kits across the country.
Teachers came alongside students and organized events where they talked about this phenomenon, what makes people vulnerable, how we can protect ourselves, how we can help others, and how to identify a human trafficker.
Many teachers were open to implementing awareness projects and programs and talking to their communities about the dangers of human trafficking. Out of the large number of events, the following stood out:
– An awareness march where students had balloons and signs about human trafficking.
– Documentary screening with testimonies of human trafficking victims and discussions.
– A flashmob to combat and prevent human trafficking in Timisoara.
– Auction – all the money raised were donated to human trafficking survivors.
– At Mihai Eminescu National College in Suceava, the students raised coins for a week. All the money were then donated to eLiberare.
Here are some of the messages put out in these projects:
“We say NO to human trafficking!”
“You can choose to look the other way, but you can never say you didn’t know”
“Freedom is the moment when a bird learns how to fly!”
“Open up your eyes. Human trafficking exists!”
“Exploitation kills souls!”
“Sell things, not people!”
“Humans don’t have a price! Stop human trafficking!”
“Choose to say NO!”
“Don’t cuff dreams, but traffickers that take them away!”
During 2015, we had around 347 (+/-1) schools that organized human trafficking prevention events.
This album is one of our dearest ones from our activity up to now. We are glad to see how many students and teachers, how many people joined the fight against human trafficking and started prevention activities in their own communities.
We want to improve our resource kits and send them out again in places where they are requested. Together we are stronger!
