At least 880 people were trafficked in or out of Romania in 2015. It’s the National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons in Romania who’s saying it based on real cases.
Below are statistics illustrated by eLiberare Design.
The patterns of criminal and socio-demographic profiles remain unchanged.
- An increasing number of victims are female
- The most common form of trafficking is sexual exploitation
- Most people are trafficked internally
- The most vulnerable age group of trafficking is 18-40 years old.
Most victims have been sexually exploited, including forced pornography. In absolute numbers, the numbers of sexually exploited victims has only increased by 23 people.
This year, the number of male sexually exploited victims, especially minors, has increased. At this time, new forms of exploitation of victims are increasing more and more (identity exploitation, forced marriage, and exploitation for social benefits).
2015 did not bring a change in the perspective of social networking of victims with regards to recruiters and traffickers. Even this year, victims are offered jobs through their circle of friends and acquaintances thus transferring their trust and safety in the offer.
