This past weekend we participated in a street fair in Bucharest, Romania.
Femei pe Matasari” is an urban artistic and cultural event. The main purpose of the event is changing the perception about Matasari Street, known in the past as a place of depravity, prostitution, drugs and transforming it into a universe with a variety of values, where new dimensions that define the contemporary woman are discovered, a place that celebrates the complexity of women.
We partnered with others from The NO Project Romania and ADPARE to highlight artwork created by students to raise awareness of human trafficking. We also took advantage of the great crowds and encouraged people to proudly hold the sign saying “Sunt un om Liber” or “I am a free person.”
Events like this provide a great opportunity to not only raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking in Romania, but allow people to actively participate in it. The team had a great time and made many new contacts across the city. People are excited to see this issue being addressed in new and bold ways.
