Disruption of Recruitment Award

In 2022, eLiberare received the Disruption of Recruitment award at the “Data to Disrupt Trafficking Awards” event, held in London by Stop The Traffik with the support of Amazon Web Services.

The event focused on combating human trafficking through the use of data and technology.

To Reduce the Risk of Becoming a VICTIM OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING, we Recommend the Following:

Know your rights in Romania and the procedure to register with the authorities by visiting dopomoha.ro

Make sure that in Romania, you primarily contact police officers, social workers, psychologists, medical staff, or any other professionals from state institutions or specialized NGOs. Always follow the recommendations made by these professionals first.

Ensure you know the address where you will be accommodated. Share the details with someone you trust and inform the Romanian authorities to register your location. If you are staying in accommodations other than those provided by authorities or NGOs, inform them of your location. Alternatively, the hosts can do this, but do not allow your presence to be reported without your knowledge.

Make sure you have enough information about the person you will be traveling with and the route. Share this information with someone you trust.

You have the right to refuse assistance from individuals or organizations if you have any suspicions. You can always contact the authorities directly for help.

No one is allowed to keep your identity documents. If someone requests them for a short time to help with your stay in Romania or transportation abroad, refuse and report this immediately.

Call 112 if you realize you are in imminent danger! Call 119 if you suspect any case of abuse, neglect, exploitation, trafficking, or other forms of violence against children.

Do not hand over your mobile phone to anyone and ensure it is always charged.

Establish a safety password, a secret word that can be included in a message or call to discreetly signal that you are in danger. Share this password with someone you trust who can alert authorities or specialists operating the eLiberare Crisis Textline: 0757.749.845

No one has the right to demand any sexual act against your will or force you to work or beg in exchange for help. This is a crime—human trafficking!
